The event occurred in the late afternoon today, just before 7 pm, when a Polish mountaineer crashed over 50 meters over the Matterhorn. The accident occurred at an altitude of 2,900 meters and the man died as a result of the fall. A helicopter of the Valdostano Alpine Rescue has intervened to recover the body in the area of the Oriondé refuge . For now, the victim's personal details are not known.

The alarm for the incident was launched by the climbing partner. The body, recovered, has already been transported to Cervinia, available to the Mountain Rescue Service of the Guardia di Finanza. The dynamics of the accident will be reconstructed and the identification of man will proceed.
