Henry's Fork conditions question & Gilbert Peak footage

Has anyone been up to Henry's Fork lately? Has anyone broken a ski track yet this year? Is the annual end of March King's Peak trip going to happen? Any beta on this years conditions for up that way would be much appreciated. :D

Some friends and I want to ski or snowshoe in, camp near Elkhorn for a night, hit a peak the next morning, and head back out that afternoon/evening.

On a side note. My sister and I did Gilbert Peak/Gunsight Peak the begining of Aug and I just finished throwing together some of our goPro footage. Figure this would be as good of a place as any to post it (instead of making a new thread). Here you go:

Enjoy :)

Just checking in here to see if it would still be feasible to do King's Peak on skis this week.

Any recent info? Or speculations on what the snowpack is like right now up there?

Thanks

CP

Bump.

I may be passing by Kings in about a week and a half, and would like to tag it if it is not hellish slush-bog season. The nearby Five Points Lake SNOTEL indicates that the wet May has hit the area hard, suggesting that conditions will suck in early June. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Thanks!

I can't confirm, but I can guess that you are correct that conditions will suck in early June. There is also a more relevant snotel in Henrys Fork at about 10000' that you pass within a few feet of. The good news is that you will be able to drive all the way to the trailhead.

Has anyone hiked up Kings Peak yet without snow gear or have an update on snow conditions?

I will be in the area and am considering backpacking Kings Peak from the Henry's Fork trailhead this weekend. The Henry's Fork Snotel says snow has completely melted out at that location, as of 8 June. I found a post elsewhere indicating that the trail was mostly snow free until the footbridge, but solid snow afterwards, as of 4 June: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friends- ... 1923120140. I am wondering how much snow is on the trail up through the passes and to the summit.

Thanks for any insight!

I'm heading to Henry's Fork to climb Kings Peak this Saturday. Anyone have current conditions?
