An 'object' is something like a mountain / rock, route, area / range, etc.

If you are searching for something posted in a forum, select 'Forums' instead. If you want to find a user select 'People'. If you want to look for a particular image, select 'Images'.

sp's is not perfect but pretty good. cascadeclimbers.com search engine for example is based on a random walk generator -- returns interesting, even if not relevant, results.

I believe single quotes will do the trick -- for example, try searching the forums for 'llama trekking'

Good, they finally fixed the forum search. And it appears the single quotes are no longer necessary.

OK..... Yes the advanced thing works.

I guess I have been "searching" for things, that exist in the Sierra, but are not on SP.... :o

Maybe time to add more stuff.

THX all who answered.

I often search SP using Google. In Google just type:

soft shell jackets site:summitpost.org

Google will then only search for pages with URL summitpost.org. It's also quite a bit faster.

The problem with searching with Google is that you only get hits on the last page of each thread.

When a thread containes several pages, Google assumes that the newer ones are updates and does not retain the earlier pages.

At least that's what my experience tells me.
