Are NPS maps public domain?

I mean the ones you get when you go into the park. More to the point, can they be used here on SP?

It's my understanding that just about everything the federal government publishes is public domain by rule unless noted otherwise (i.e., using a private photograph by permission under limited license). But I can't cite an authority to that effect.
