Photo of the Moment

This feature looks like it needs some adjustment, either that or dumping. On numerous occasions, what I have seen there is a profile picture. The most recent one that I saw was actually a cartoon rather than a photo, and probably was also a copyright violation. Since this isn't some sort of "facebook" it seems that profile pictures should be excluded from this feature.

What, cartoon people??
My issue is the people using SP as a photo database. There is no reason to have thousands of images uploaded of your family vacations.

I'm pretty sure the world will end if POTM is not fixed to be fair, just, and true to everyone, including that little beggar child with just 3 fingers.

This isn't the worst of the photo problems. Many users think they have to post their photo of the Matterhorn or some other well known mountain, even though there are a hundred more just like it posted to the mountain page. When this got started we had a rule against that sort of thing (also a "no hero shots" rule) and the page owner was responsible for thinning out the photos. Thinning out the photos on a popular mountain page is a tough job, but it makes for a better page.

Thank me if you want me to feature this photo just to piss Buz off:

I agree about the complain regarding duplicates, especially for popular views of popular peaks, but that's been a lost cause for a long time now.

By the way, I may have been wrong above. A member has posted all of her photos of her group doing Old Rag on that page - you are going to need a weapon of mass deletion.

Yeah, it seems I need to detach some clutter. I already detached a couple. The page will never be the same again without this critical component:

Those look like bats hanging in that tree, Bob. Most folks dig bats on SP.

I found a better picture of Buz to feature. Now he's immortalized. 8)

When I first looked through the photos, I kept seeing a bunch of photos that almost had some artistic merit and they were yours. Further investigation revealed that they had informative value.

You still need to remove quite a few of the photos from one of our young female members that show absolutely nothing about the mountain.
