We're still doing QA testing and fixing small things. And this week has been crazy busy for me. I'm out of town this Saturday, back on Sunday, and am going to start the transition to the new server on Monday. It will take a couple of days to set up a new server, get files transferred over, etc. Actual "go live" will likely happen middle of next week. Then the fun part begins...after going live, there will be lots and lots of things to fix, I'm sure. I needed to ensure that I'll be online when the transition happens. I was in meetings all day most this week, so I couldn't do it. After this weekend, I should be online and available most of the day to fix anything that breaks or is broken after the transition. I like the idea of doing it around Christmas because SummitPost traffic is the lowest all year at that time and I typically have a lot more free time since there is no high school swim practice (I coach).

Matt, did it ever happen?

I don't see any difference. :?:

Whatever had changed with all this push for more advertising dollars has created havoc with the layout of many pages. All the large white spaces and widely stretched pages kind of makes me think of a bad music station with lots of "dead air". I have to wonder at what first-time visitors to SP think now. And for me, I have to wonder what is the point in even trying to create a new page if it is only going to be distorted by software we have no control over. They say change is inevitable, but in this case, I don't think it has been for good.

I used a free software load called Adblock Plus, which took less than a minute to install, and now both my Microsoft Edge and Chrome browsers show Summitpost as it was back in the past. Highly recommended.

I was someone who balked at doing something like this, but the difference it makes is incredible. Please try it if you were ready to write off Summitpost, as I was.

Stu, I want to see Summitpost the way the audience for my pages is seeing it. If I see some sanitized version that makes me think I'm creating good stuff when actually they will be crap pages nobody will give a second glance--I'm just fooling myself.

Whatever happened to Josh Lewis, is he still around? I don't even operate on Windows ... my browser is Firefox, and I have NO ads at all.

A week ago, bored by the invasion of the Ads interspersed between the text and the photos on my pages, I also downloaded the Adblock Plus (Google Chrome) that completely eliminated the Ads from my pages.
The trouble, however, has been solved partially, in fact the visitors who will click my pages will continue to see dozens of Ads if they themselves will not provide their browsers with an ADS blocker ....

Let me be the first to express my utmost disappointment with the management of Summitpost. Why do these ads need to be here? What's the delay anyways? We were promised a serious update over two weeks ago!

Individual owners of pages take great pride in their pages. We craft them to be interesting, useful, informative, and take care to get the layout in a manner we want.

Then the ads come in and f*** everything up. It looks like shit.

I am kind of okay with ads along the trim, but not within the content. I get that some ads are necessary to keep the whole site solvent.

Downloading adblock software only makes me happy. The rest of the world sees the ads.

I have a problem with my content being whored out for ads. Where's my cut? I have over 100 pages here.

I hope to post a few pages on some interesting AZ peaks no one will climb soon, but not until the new overhaul is complete.

It may be that I remove my content. I hate to be one of those guys who takes his ball and goes home, but currently, my stuff is being polluted with these god-awful ads.I hate it and it disgusts me. I'm waiting and seeing. It was a nice internet we once had.

Same here. I'm waiting to post four pages for interesting peaks in Mexico and two in Wyoming, but only if something changes with the ads.

Yup, same here. I have at least 10 new pages I want to put up that really deserve a place here on SP. I planned on putting some up during the holidays but every time I opened SP the same ridicilous amount of ads was
still present.. and still is to this day. :(

If the promised changes aren't made anytime soon I fear a lot of contributing SP-ers might leave. I for sure won't be putting up any new pages until the changes are done. :!:

We could sure use more folks posting on the forum pages, especially OFF-ROUTE! Johnny down the street got a new i-phone and is tweeting his girlfriend. I told him to get off my lawn.

Yeah I agree, if the ads do not go away I am done contributing. Matt Miller, I am directing this to you; the future of SP if at stake here. Please fix this!

We gotta keep this forum thread "active" if we want Matt to "follow-through."

Doesn't anybody know the words to "Highway to Hell?"

"Some Climb, some Talk about Climbing all Day Long on Forums, Don't Confuse the Two" Been getting out a lot the last month, a fair amount of ice climbing and rock climbing. Intensifying head aches are making it rough, however I decided that it's going to be a rough go no matter what so I might as well train hard. On the bright side I figured out the issue after the docs and specialists gave up. Just need to do more investigations with yet another head surgery.

Anyways in the great words of Ronald Reagan "Mr. Miller, tear down these ads."
