Brooks/Silverthorne before June 8th
Posted: Mon Apr 13, 2015 7:43 pmThe NPS site says the shuttle to Wonder Lake doesn't start until June 8th. How to you get up the road before then? Car? Bike? hitchhike? Walk????

Posted: Mon Apr 13, 2015 10:10 pmPermits are required to drive private vehicles on the Park Road past the Savage River bridge. Previous groups have flown to Kantishna, taken skis or a dogsled (this probably won't work if you intend to go in early June or late May) or bicycles (which involved a fair amount of carrying the bikes). It has been a low-snow year, so it's possible that the road might be snow-free before June 8.
