Hello from Minnesota!

Looks like I will be heading out with the family to the Banff area next summer and I have wanted to climb the N. Face of Athabasca for a long time. I won't have any partners out there so I need to either hire a guide or find someone who can go in Mid-late July 2015. I know we are just getting into winter so predicting conditions next year is going to be tough.

I have looked at all the TRs and have a pretty good understanding of what to expect- which is a wide range of possibilities.

Do you have any guide recommendations or do you have some free time and want to swap leads climbing the N. Face of Mt. Athabasca?

Have a great winter, the fun is just beginning!

There's a Facebook group called the Bow Valley Climbing Crew, you can probably find a partner a month or so out on there. I could be up for it as well next year, it looks like a fun day out.

Hey I would be interested in this. I'll be up there climbing Waddington the final week of July and can squeeze this in somewhere. I have wanted to do this route for awhile!

Sounds like there is some interest! I'll keep this thread updated as we get closer to the date. If anyone else is interested, feel free to toss a tool into the pile, so to speak.

Hi,
In 2012 I had a prof. meeting in Banff and also wanted to do Athabasca. I had no partners so I bit the bullet and hired Tom Wolfe at http://sawback.com/
His rates are reasonable, even more so these days. After 2 tries we summited in winter conditions on July 4. Great trip.

I've climbed a couple of times with Matt Reynolds, http://mountainguiding.ca/, who is very pleasant, competent, and adaptable.
I recommend him highly.

Did a crevasse rescue day and a fine climb with a 5.7 pitch last summer with Jim Gudjonson. He is superb, by my lights, modest, strong, serious, possibly a bit less jolly than Matt, but an all-round mountaineer, climbing and ski guide both. A bit hard to reach: you can work from https://www.linkedin.com/in/jim-gudjonson-01099234. Let me know PM if you have trouble and I'll see if I can get you a better way.
