This shot was taken from the summit of Colchuck. It shoulf be baker on the right side, but what is the black peak in the left forground? I have searched and searched, but not sure if I have come up with anything. Thanks.

Well, I want to say Forbidden. . . but, I don't know.

I took the pidture mostly to capture Baker, but I wanted to include this one. The more I look at it, the more stunning it is and really trumps baker in the shot. I will look at those two.

It's definitely Sloan. Very distinctive peak. Look in the Cascade Alpine Guide Volume II and you'll see those snow ramps function as access routes to the summit. Beautiful shot!

^^Yes! The corkscrew route. I just looked it up and the profile is a match. Thanks for the help. I need to learn my camera a little better. It seems most of my high altitude/ sunny day shots get washed out, but I do love the pic. If I could do it again, I would shoot just Sloan and have a little darker, crisper image.

An old tip that really helps me: meter your camera on snow, then frame the shot. If you meter on the brightest thing in the picture, you'll get richer colors and good balance.

I was going to say Stewart, but if the PAC NW dudes say Sloan, that's what it must be.

As usual, I got side-tracked in the stormy state of UTAH. Go freakin' figure!

Who cares about Sloany? What about those choice peakaroos in the foreground? (Yes, I know which peakaroos they are. That's no bull.)

Yup, definitely Sloan. Don't know what the peaks in the foreground are, but what are the two peaks directly in front of the Black Buttes? I would say Twin Sisters, but i know they are SW of Baker; and from this angle, this would put the peaks in question around SSE of Baker.

Did anybody say Sloan yet? It's Sloan. Definitely.

For the photo starting this thread...
the peaks in front of the Black Buttes are Pugh and White Chuck (black mass barely poking up through clouds).

The foreground peaks are those of the Bulls Tooth complex.

If that is Sloan, then what mtns are those in the foreground?

It looks like Mt. Baker... but... the picture must have been taken from a mountain much closer to Mt. Baker.

I suspect the picture wasn't taken on Colchuck.
