Costa Rica with kids

Hi

We're going to Costa Rica. Our children are 12 and 10 and we're a fit and active family.
In general looking for any other advice and cool tips for family adventures in Costa Rica.
Thinking of climbing Cerro Chirripo - is it a suitable climb for kids who have only previously climbed our British peaks, albeit quite a lot of them?
Where's the best place to stay in Tortuguero? And how long do you need there? Is it necessary to join a tour?
Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

And if you only had time for one volcano, which would it be? :)

I haven't climbed any British peaks, but Chirripo would be fine for in shape kids that age. Make sure to get an early start on day 1.

We stayed in Turtle Beach, and it was really good, but that was 11+ years ago. I would highly recommend a tour because you can't see much without a boat tour going around to various places. Boats are the way to get around there.

I recommend to organize it with Armin. He is an Austrian guide that decided to relocate to Costa Rica to live the "pura vida" life.
He can prepare great programs including volcanoes summit and/or family trips.

Enjoy!
