Last May/June I was both in the Condoriri and trekking to Illampu. I used my down 15F/-10C bag the whole trip and never had a problem even at 16,700 camp. Cheers!

Coldest I saw was 20F/-7C in June. I slept in Condoriri for most of a week, at the hut on Huayna Potosi, and as high as 5500m on a ridge at Illimani. I had a 30 year old -18C down bag, no longer very fluffy. Slept with a bottle of hot water down by my toes (inside the bag) and was comfy.

I was there 6wks in June-July 1999 climbing on Peq Alpamayo, HPotosi, Illimani, Illampu, Sajama and Parinacota.

I'd say we had temps down around -15C for sure. If you watch some international news you'll see that LaPaz often gets down to -8C in June-July at that's at average 3500m. Walking back to my hotel from Mongo's Bar at 2am was one of the coldest things I've ever done

But there's variations btw mountain areas. Illampu/Anchohuma are lower near the jungle and not as cold (but snowier). Illimani is quite high and dry and can be severely cold up high. On Sajama, Illimani and Illampu you use a high camp, so you're actually up in the colder part more than on some of the lower peaks.

I have heard people say down to -20C and even colder but this seems extreme. My bag is rated to -18C and I concerned I might shiver a bit

you should ok in your sleeping bag.my bag has comfort -15c and I have never had problem in camps over 5000m.the main problem is not to be cold when you start your climb at 3am.....

Had -20ºC in july.. but it was a windy night..
