Hi All

My girlfriend I are heading to Aconcagua in Jan 2010. Was wondering what people are doing for water at Plaza de Mulas this season. What I mean are do you plan to use a water filter?

I have climbed Aconcagua 3 times before but the last time was 8 years ago. The water was fine to drink. Just thought I would see if things have changed?

thanks

Rob

Hi Rob and welcome to SummitPost. I know some people have taken water filters to Aconcagua and been successful with them but, personally, I find them to be a pain. I prefer to use Aqua Mira drops as they are light to carry (only weigh a few ounces) and easy to use.

I agree with Brad.
We were introduced to Aqua Mira on a 9-day backpack and climbig trip in the Needles/Grenadiers range in southern Colorado. They saved the trip (my Steripen broke on day-2) and the taste was imperceptible.
Recommended!

Thanks guys, thats what I thought but seeing I had not been there for so long thought it might be worth checking.

thanks

Rob

Well, we were there this year and we didn't treat water with anything. Nevertheless, we didn't have any problems with stomach. Water is just fine.
Have a nice trip,
Darek

For 3 weeks we used Aqua Mira and had no problems. Quick, easy, effective.
