Hi there,
Wondering if anybody has climbed Deo Tibba in the Himachal Pradesh region of India before?

Or just if anyone has any info which would be of use?

I am looking to get over there in September and trying to get as much information as possible on the peak itself!

Thanks in advance

Allan

Hi Allan

Heres the info for deo tibba:

Your biggest town will be Manali where you can buy all your supplies, The road head is 5 Kms away from Manali a village called Jagatsukh. The trek to Base camp will take you 3 days and the climb itself will take you anywhere between 3 - 7 days depending on your level of acclimatization. Its a straight forward climb small technical sections nothing serious and big. the height of the peak is 6001 m and has fantastic views.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

cheers

Minimum $500, depending on how many of you. Plus LO and other fees.

As at: http://www.indmount.org/rulesandregulat ... ingcharges

It's compulsory, as it's not a Trekking Peak. I'm not familiar with the area, to say if you can do the peak illegally (probably) but basically if you pay the peak fee then you'll be paying for an LO as well.

India has made some progress with these new peak fees, but the LO is still a leftover problem - but a hard one to get rid of as they provide jobs for cronies in the administration and the military etc. For a two man team on a small cheap peak like that, the LO is a big cost and hassle. On a bigger peak, divided between a bigger team, it's not so bad.
