Climbing after getting AMS ?

by Laurentgeo » Sun May 19, 2019 4:08 pm

There is a lot of stuff about preventing AMS (acute mountain sickness) but I havn’t found much about what to do after you had it and the symptoms have disapeared.

I am in Ecuador to climb the Chimborazo (20 547 ft) and I got mountain sick when I climbed (on my first day, I know, bad idea) the Rucu Pichincha (15 255 ft). I now have to rest for a few days but I still have 4 days before my scheduled attempt for the Chimbrazo.
I got the same situation in India last year and manage to climb to (17 000 ft) a few days later without any problems but I am wondering :

Is it a bad idea to return climbing after getting mountain sick (if acclimatation stages are respected this time)?
