Winter hut tour in the Dolomites?

by Rick B » Thu Mar 02, 2017 9:39 am

We are interested in doing a 2-3 day winter hiking tour in the Dolomites (snow shoes, no skis), preferably with some overnight stays in huts. Does anybody have good tips for such a tour, taking into account huts and avalanche dangers? I found that many of the huts are private and don't have winter rooms ..

Any information is very welcome!

Rick, did you ever find any more info on this? We're interested in the same area.

Never been in the Dolomites in the winter but as far as I gather most - if not all - huts are closed from late October through June. This excludes huts in one of the ski circuses but I suspect you wouldn't want to go there.

Another suspicion would be that the odds might be best on Alta Via 1 - 3.
