"Are you better or worse off going missing in a national forest than from a Walmart parking lot?"

Interesting article, and I have no comment. This has nothing to do with psychology, sociology, or philosophy, but has EVERYTHING to do with REALITY.

Regardless of resources you devote to the search and area you cover you will never find the body if you miss just this one spot, which happens to organized S&Rs sometimes.

Far as resources go, seems like there'd be more resources in the Walmart parking lot, but I catch the man's drift long as we stay within the realms of common sense.

But stuff happens, nevertheless. And the "calvary" very seldom appears when we need them the most, or do not need them at all.

Even when that body is still alive, above treeline, in a likely one square mile area, is directly below their last known cell phone coordinates, and is running around looking at the helicopters circling overhead?

Or - if you REALLY want to leave no trace - you could just ditch your entire life and leave 130 or so search-and-rescuers scratching their heads.

After six days of searching, State Police said Tuesday the Toronto firefighter assumed missing on Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks was found alive and well in California.

Constantinos "Danny" Filippidis, a 49-year-old Canadian, contacted local authorities in Sacramento, Calif., ending a massive search for him in Wilmington, Essex County, troopers said.
