looking ridge across the flatland there. Wonder what kind of geology is going on.

Bob,

Do a Google Map search for Picacho Peak. Zoom out one step. Then see this giant black volcanic "blob" on the landscape. That would be Picacho Peak and "Razorback Ridge."

If you haven't climbed in Southern AZ, I strongly recommend it. It's a great place to visit in the winter - absolutely beautiful. The mountains are just stunners!
