You should do it like I did: I crashed my google earth installation and now I'm not able to use it anymore. Nothing helps, deinstallation, deletion of entries from the registry. I'm forced to look at oldfashioned paper maps!
Thanks - I messed around with the graphics setting and suddenly Google Earth works again!
