Great overview shot! Vapor trail?You can really see the crater rim from this vantage point. Man, I was almost up to it when we had to turn back.
One question though. What is the darker line that runs along the south side of the crater rim? Is that the shadow of your airplane's vapor trail?

Re: Great overview shot! Vapor trail?Thanks! I was really surprised when I looked out the window and suddenly could see Iceland so clearly. I understood that Hvannadalshnukur had to be down there somewhere. I'm not really sure what the dark line is, but I took the picture through the window and I don't think it was very clean. I guess it's just a scratch in the window. I have edited the photo in Photoshop to make it better, but the reflections or light to the left is hard to remove. I think you can see the Skaftafell campsite down to the left.
