Summit Trail  Sucess!

Climbed this after work once a week from the end of May til the end of August while I was living in Phx last summer. I would have loved to run it but my short legs are no match for some of the larger rock steps!

Forgot my headlamp once while doing a sunset climb, had to descend in the pitch black which took longer than the climb up!

Summit Trail  Sucess!

I was dropped off at the parking lot by a friend. It was very hot, but summit fever grabbed hold of me and I sweated my way to the tippy top. When I arrived back down to the trailhead, I had no transportation to the Marriott. So after a couple of attempts I bummed a ride from someone and successfully made it poolside.

Teeming Millions  Sucess!

If 1 in 1000 of the Piestewa Peak climbers would
graduate to the hiking the Arizona County High
Points then we could lap Rhode Island in completions.

Muggy...  Sucess!

Great overcast day, and a great summit...were it not for the hordes of flying ants and the ultra-mugginess from monsoon season! Still a great peak to climb...just do it in the winter!

17 t imes straight  Sucess!

Climbed 17 times in one day (21 hours) to gain 20k elevation in one day. Tough as hell, but good times!!!

So many people  Sucess!

Maybe it was college bowl game time and there were lots of visitors in town, but I felt like I was waiting in line to get to the top.

Squaw Peak Summit Trail  Sucess!

My brother and I made it to the summit in 22 minutes. The weather was absolutely beautiful. We used to climb this mountain as kids when there were far fewer people on it and it was still called Squaw Peak.

Summer Afternoon  Sucess!

Done this peak many times. It is a lot of fun doing it super early in the morning (winter). I have also done it at around 107. One just gets used to it.

Fun climb  Sucess!

Loads and loads of people. Parking is much better than Camelback Mountain though. Last section to the summit was probably the funnest. Most people climb to the left and call it good, whereas the actual summit is on the right hand side. I recommend climbing it early in the morning or much later in the afternoon to avoid the sun directly in your eyes as you are summiting.

Great little hike  Sucess!

enjoyed the view

Summit Trail, what else?  Sucess!

I usually hike this if the parking lot at Camelback is too full. This can be crowded, too. Still, a good solid hike of 1,200 feet gain in about 1.2 miles, with a short scramble to the summit (on the right). Great workout peak. Have hiked it about 150 times, I'd say - usually takes me 1 hour exactly up and down.

Yeahhhh!!!  Sucess!

This was a nice little hike. It would have been better had I not had been hung over and 90 some degrees out. I would rate it maybe a 4 for difficulty, but a 10 for scenery. And when I mean scenery I'm ONLY talking about the trophy milfs you see all over the trail.

My first mountain  Sucess!

I climbed Squaw peak several times with my dad back in the mid-80s. This was my first real summit or mountain climbing experience, so Squaw Peak will always have a special place in heart.

Piestewa Peak

A nice hike from the Arizona Biltmore. The trail scenery was spectacular. The views of Phoenix were ok too.

I never knew that the name had been changed. Everyone in Phoenix seems to still call it Squaw Peak. Anyway, been up this one a few times, most recently to burn off some turkey on Christmas Day.

Have been to Phx. hundreds of times...this was my first time on Squaw Peak.

Amazed at the amount of people...seemed like I passed somebody every 10 seconds. I'll bet there were over a thousand climbers throughout the day.

Have never quite been on a trail like this before....seems almost paved with all the steps and rock formed trailway.

Great views from the top...make sure you summit by going to the rightmost peak...most people went left. There is a survey marker at the tippy top.

Great day hike, easy access, just not a real good place to get away.

Squaw peak has had its name sanitized but its still a great little hike. Met a guy who said he does it every day and I asked him what was the hottest day he'd ever climbed it - he said 122 degrees! wow!

I climb this one usually several times when I'm in Phoenix - hottest day I've done it was 103 and that's plenty hot for me.
