2nd of day
Hiked after camelback that with the fact it got much hotter made it a little tougher. But a decent hike very rocky with plenty of trail runners. Hit up true summit which is not difficult despite almost no one even attempting at least when I was there

Sunny Hike
I love how these mountains are in the middle of the city. This was a quick hike but it's a lot of stairs so it was hard! I was up in about 27 minutes and my legs were burning. It was a little hot since it was the end of june ;) but there was a nice breeze. I drenched my shirt before we started and I hardly noticed the heat on the way up. By the time we got to the car though I was burning and ready to cool off. I definitely want to do this one again some time, maybe in Nov or Dec.

Quick, hot run up!
I was in town for the weekend and have had my eye on this one. We decided to brave the heat around 9am, despite the 100 degrees while we were out. We took it easy to warm up the first ten minutes and then we hammered it to the summit. I was another 12 minutes and Brit a few minutes later. This was my first time. Not quite as fun or runnable as the Cholla trail of Camelback, but it was really nice to do something different. We brought water which we did not drink, but poured on ourselves. All around good experience, I look forward to warming up before hand and seeing how fast I can run hard to the top.
Did this while visiting Scottsdale. Direct quick stair climb to the summit. Nice views of the Phoenix area.

Great urban day hike, views of Phoenix Valley of the Sun!
Have hiked this many times since the mid-1990s, it is very popular and often crowded. Great views on the way up and from the summit.

Another exercise route in Phoenix
We came out for Thanksgiving and were planing on doing the Flat Iron but a plane crashed into it, killing a family. Very sad, so we had to change our plans. On our way to do a quick run up Camelback there was an air rescue going on so we changed some more plans and did Piestewa. Nice workout but strange set of circumstances.

Great location!
We were just driving around the Phoenix area and stumbled across the parking lot for the trail head. So we decided to give it a go! Love how this peak is located in the middle of the city. Nice day, great weather and fun little hike. Quite busy.

Nice Urban Peak!
I had been wanting to visit this peak for several years. With a few extra morning hours prior to flying out, I took a chance with little information other than a street map. I was surprised to find such a great area and trail system. The Summit Trail should be renamed "Piestewa Peak Superhighway" due to the amount of people there. Awesome views. Great conditioning hike!

Trail
In the area for work. Had done Camelback the prior night. Fantastic urban hikes. If you only have time for one I would recomend Camelback via Echo Canyon. Been lucky to be in the desert in spring last few years. Everyting in bloom, very nice!
The trail was crowded and a majority of the people on the trail had no concept that hikers going up have the right of way... all of that being said, it was worth it once we got to the bronse medallion at the top. What a view! Make sure you get there early though because the parking lot was completely full by 7am.
Arrived at 8 AM to find all parking spots were taken. These mountains get pretty crowded this time of year.

Nice hike on a Thanksgiving visit. Maybe even more popular then the Camelback route we did a couple days earlier. Similar hikes but I liked Camelback more

I've climbed this peak 15-20 times while living in the Phoenix area at various times. I loved having a retreat so close to the city.
