Route Climbed: Traverse Pigne d'Arolla - Mont Blanc de Cheilon Date Climbed: august 2018The climb to the Pigne d'Arolla is only warming-up for what's coming, but at the end of the day you're happy to have linked it to the Mont Blanc de Cheilon instead of only climbing the latter on its own :-) Reasonably good conditions despite the hot weather of the previous weeks.

day 5 of the haute routea safe and amazing adventure along the haute route thanks to amazing weather and 100% visibility. the ski down to the vignettes hut was amazing.

Normal route from Cabane des VignettesThird time on the summit, and finally in good weather! Amazing views. After descending the first bit, we also climbed up the first (of many) summit(s) of the Pointe du Brénay, via a short, but beautiful snowridge. We descended to Arolla.

Initial plan to do a complete traversée had to be abandoned because of heavily overcrowded cabane de Chanrion & refurbishment works in Cabane des Vignettes.
This was actually the 2nd time I was up there. Way back in 1979 I summited, departing from Arolla and via the cabane des Vignettes, up and down in 1 day.

Pigne d'ArolloaClimbed it during an alpine skills course. It was a nice climb, as we had great weather. On the summit we could see for miles and miles.

From Cabane des VignettesNice and fairly easy climb. Unfortenatly the weather was quite bad, so I couldn't enjoy the magnificent view.
Climbed it a second time on july 21 2011, this time from the Cabane des Dix. After some heavy snow it became a rather heavy climb, with half a meter fresh snow to go through. Reached the summit only after six hours in very bad weather (rather heacy snowfall). So also the second time on the summit I couldn't see anything of the surrounding mountain scenery.
