Via Crags  Sucess!

Solo climb right after the first big snowfall of the year. There was deeper snow than I was expecting, and ran into a few other solo hikers.

Devil's Playground  Sucess!

Great day in July, even though it snowed and hailed for 5 minutes...

NW Slopes from Glen Cove  Sucess!

Celebrated my dad's 60th birthday by camping at Glen Cove, then ascending the bowl to join the NW Slopes route en route to the summit. He did great despite a few inches of fresh August snow above 13k'

Barr Trail Up and Down  Sucess!

I live in the plains and my knees are a curse so I hike quite a bit slower than most at high altitude. Started at the Barr trailhead with my brother and sister at Midnight. Reached the summit at 11:30. Headed back down at 12:15 only to dodge a thunderstorm and duck into the A-Frame at treeline for about an hour. Continued down the Barr trail back to the trailhead by 7pm for a total hike time of roughly 19 hours. The most brutal yet memorable hike of my life!

Whoopee...  Sucess!

Can't say I'm really proud of this one, but at least we did Longs Peak the right way the following day.

the long way  Sucess!

Quite a long route, and it doesn't help your tiredness when people jump out of their car to greet you at the top!

From Glen Cove  Sucess!

Ascended right side of the bowl out of Glen Cove and traversed over to the NW Slopes route at Devils Playground. Nabbed Little Pikes on the way up and Devils Playground Peak on the way down. Didn't intend to summit Pikes but was too enticing from the top of Little Pikes. 10.6 miles and 3050' vertical for a fun day.

Y via overnight @ Barr  Sucess!

HUGE recent slide in the gully leading up to the Y. Looked like railroad had also recently slid. Interesting conditions in the Y, the right side was almost bare ice because it had slid. The left was wind loaded with a little bit of slab action. Had to stay on the left branch because a lot of slough off the right wall in the sun. A little sketch, but way fun, and a nice first summit of '09 a$$ kicker! Nice weather, NOBODY on top - until the train pulled in..:)

3x  Sucess!

2/4/05 - From Crags Campground. My first winter summit!

5/2/09 - Y Couloir with an overnight stay at Barr Camp. A long and physically demanding route, but worth it for a climb of this classic couloir. It rained in Colorado Springs the whole time but we had lovely weather above the clouds.

3/19/16 - From Crags Campground on a cold final day of calendar winter. Dom's winter 14er finisher!!!

Y Coulier "middle" branch  Sucess!

This was my 4th trip up the Y and we found the best conditions yet. A wet spring in the Front Range has brought prime conditions. Our goal was the elusive right branch, but it was too icy w/o a 2nd tool. We retreated and went up the middle branch, which was my third time up it.

Backpacked up to the A-frame  Sucess!

In retrospect, backpacking to the a-frame was insane. On the way down I slightly tore my achilles heel and then two weeks later I had two-a-day football practices... Good times!
