I absolutely LOVE reading about peaks like this, Bob. I'm intrigued about places that typically don't see people, ascents, places with scant beta. Seems anytime one mentions 'butte', conditions as what you described are usually encountered.
The Pawnee Buttes out on the plains north of Greeley are similar in aspect...just so grand as these.
