It was wonderful, except for the 1/2 mile of mosquito fog just below Blue Lake. I got eaten alive! The entire Sabrina basin is just plain beautiful, I will return! Thanks!
We'll be crossing Piute Pass in 2 weeks, and hope the mosquitoes have had their fill, and gone anywhere but HERE!
Anyone heard of these new Anti-Mosquito Shirts they sell at REI for $85.00?
By the way, this photo deserves a much higher score than it has currently; I have rarely seen so fine a shot of these hard-to-photograph summits!
Thanks Allan for the vote! I just got back from Humphreys Basin and the mosquitos were THICK @ 12K (the whole basin is very green due to the heavy snow this year), almost like chinese water torture! I have the "Buzz-off" clothes (much cheaper on ebay!), and they work in light clouds, but once you get sweating, and they are as thick as they were when we were there....DEET. Try anything with Picaridin also (tastes better, too!)), it seemed to work even better, but for shorter periods of time.Try to find a windy ridge when you are there. Have fun!
thank you for posting these - keep them coming!
Thanks dmiki. I like yours as well, especially the plants (I am an avid gardener). Stay tuned, i will post some more, since I just got back from 2 weeks of vacation! Thanks again.
