A beautiful mountain!  Sucess!

We climbed after a fairly big snow fall the previous day so it was tough going in some places, but a really fun climb!

Just in time to beat the bad weather  Sucess!

According to the forecast, the weather would take a turn for the worse sometime during the day. Strangely enough, we were the only party in the Branca hut that decided to have an early breakfast and leave by the break of dawn.
It was a good thing that we did. Not long after we started, the sun came out, but by the time we got closer to the summit, it had disappeared in the clouds. We had no view on the top, and it was windy, so we quickly started our descent towards the Gavia pass. A few isolated drops came down, but fortunately, the rain didn't start properly until well over an hour later, when we were off the glacier and on easy terrain. Still, those last two hours to the pass our rain gear got tested, and, not totally unexpected, I found out that my boots were not waterproof anymore.

We climbed Pizzo Tresero, Punta Pedranzini and Cima Dosegù. The intention was to continue the 13 Cime but the weather got worse. So we came down crossing the Dosegù glacier.

Route climbed : from Refuge Berni at Gavia pass. Date climbed : August 08th 2006

Sun and nice weather in the morning. No snow on the track till 3200m. Last part on the rocky ridge. Once on the summit the weather changed and some clouds made a bit difficult to find the way back on the glacier.

Route Climbed: ski route from Branca hut Date Climbed: April 21st 2003  Sucess!

crossing the huge Forni glacier is very impressing with some danger of crevasses. It's a very popular mountain: on this Monday of easter we met about 100 climbers who did the direct route from the parking at the Forni hut. We took downhill also to Forni hut and had to climb 1 hour in addition to gain Branca hut again
