1st; 7/5/16: Rachael and I started from Bull-of-the-Woods trailhead, summited Walter, Wheeler, Simpson, Old Mike, "Fairchild", Lake Fork and Kachina and then descended the ski area back to the car. Some fun scrambly sections between Simpson and "Fairchild" and again to get up Lake Fork. Long loop, not sure the mileage of vert but we took about 9 hours to complete it.
2nd; 5/19/18: Rachael, Scot and I started at Williams Lake trailhead and summited Wheeler, Simpson, "Fairchild', Lake Fork and Kachina before descending through the ski area back to the car.
Climbed the ridge from Kachina all the way to Wheeler. We hit Kachina Peak...An unnamed peak, Lake Fork Peak, "Bighorn Peak",Pt 12,728, Simpson, Old Mike, Wheeler, and then Walter. Started at 7:20am and then finished at 5:30. We started at the Williams Lake Trailhead. Amazing day! The weather somehow cooperated with us the whole time. Very fun traverse. Saw lots of Elk, Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goats. SO MUCH FUN!!
Climbed UN 12,728 during the traverse from Kachina to Wheeler peak. Snow and some ice on the peak and ridges. Fun scramble on the connecting ridges to UN 12,819 ("Bighorn") and
Simpson. Great views!
we climbed this unranked peak during a ridge run from Lake Fork to Wheeler. indeed, some good scrambling is to be found from here to Simpson!
Another PERFECT day! Awesome views.
