Awesome

Great spring/early summer climb.there was at least 4 feet of snow in the couloir and a small cornice at the top when I climbed it. Ice ax and crampons are definitely a must this time of year. I made an easy descent off Wyant peak to the east, then north through the ravine(also filled with snow) and down to Canyon Lake to cut off some time and distance.

Discretion  Sucess!

We decided to back off of a Thanksgiving day Canyon Peak attempt and ascended this peak instead. From Canyon lake it looks truly gnarly.

And Again  Sucess!

6sep08 - Climbed with Linda, Vernon, and Meleah on a good-weather day. Very enjoyable.

30jul07 - I crossed this summit for the first time on a point-to-point outing which began at the Canyon Creek Trailhead and ended after crossing Downing Mountain.

Canyon Creek Approach  Sucess!

Very nice day spent with Mike & Linda Hoyt, and Meleah. Impressive, inspirational views of neighboring Canyon Peak, one of the Bitterroots most difficult ascents. Mike's question in the body of the page about why this point isn't climbed more often is very apropos. Wonderful country!!!!
