Polemonium

My all time favorite wildflower. It blooms in the Sierra only above 12,000 feet. It is mostly seen growing out of cracks in between rocks and usually is in bloom late June through mid August.

Yes, I love it every time I come by these flowers in the Sierra.

I have read...

somewhere long time ago that these wildflowers were John Muir's favorite also, but I can't remember the source now.

John Muir actually had many "favorites". He mentions Cassiope and Bryanthus in one letter but also once wrote "I have so many others on all the continents I am unable to name them in a letter or in hundreds of letters. They come thronging about me in such loving multitudes a score of volumes could not hold them all.“
