Looks like a great mountain if you're looking for a quicky near McCall. Nice pictures of the regional vegetation... I read once that in heart of the Seven Devils that from the bottom of the Snake (or Salmon) River to the top of He Devil, more than 8 climate zones can be found, I wonder if thats true.
I'm not sure how they define vegetation zones, but the bottom of Hells Canyon to the top of He/She Devil is almost 8,000 feet, which might be the largest vertical rise in Idaho. Its high subalpine (near true alpine) on top and quite arid at the bottom. Its quite a change from one end to the other.
Ya, I was a little nervous about putting a flower picture up. Good so far.
This mountain isn't really in the SD wilderness, but it is in the SDs and the "SDW" group is as close as I could get. I thought it proper to include it in the group even though its outside the artificial boundary. I'm sure someone will probably point this discrepancy out eventually.
I could change the group name to Seven Devils Mountains and thereby more thoroughly justify your Pollock. That way, you'll be pollockically correct in the eyes of the sticklers. As it is right now, though, I'll leave it as it is.
Thanks for submitting it. I was looking for a hike while in New Meadows for the weekend and noticed this mtn in Google Earth, then found your SP page. Very helpful and well written. Dave
