Double with Cascade
Great day trip combined with Cascade.

Nice Walk and Less Crowded
I'm probably one of the few who didn't do this in tandem with Cascade. We climbed from route 73 after canceling Big Slide because the weather forecast said peaks in the clouds. Less crowded than Cascade and the views to the South are almost as nice. Bagged Cascade again on the way back.

Black Flies
the day I climbed this was Black Fly day. Counted over 50 bites on the back of my neck alone when we finished. So needless to say not my favorite hike

Did in tandem with Cascade
Climbed this mountain a bunch of times now. Its usually much less busy than its close neighbor Cascade. So if you want a little more solitude head for Porter.

Breathtaking...
views of the Great Range for very little effort. Trail from the Cascade Junction.
Route Climbed: Trailhead from 73 to Summit of Cascade, then to Porter. Date Climbed: November 21, 2004
Climbed this with Alan Meachum and my 4 month old Chocolate Lab, whom I named after this peak, "Porter." These were their first High Peaks unfortunately the views were non-existant, yet being in the clouds with so little visibility made this an exciting experience anyways. My pup did excellent for his first peaks... Alan did great too, pumping him up for his next 44!
This was my 2nd High Peak, done in the same day as Cascade. Weather was pretty bad, so no views but the mist and fog that surrounded us was beautiful none the less.

WindyA hop, skip, and slide on ice from Cascade. The summit is surprisingly windy considering how many trees are around.
