we saw that sign, looked around and ran for dear life across that meadow, thankfully no bullhorns were involved

fun top ropes
top roping goodness, was walking around on the top looking for another set of anchors, and the rain hit. Slick, slow descent off the dome.

First for Hannah
Hannah, my eight year old daughter with mild cerebral palsy, hiked up with us today. When she realized she could be first up in the family, she raced up, only pausing to pick up her shoe when it flew off. She made it first. The smile was incredible, even rivalling the view.

Near Death Experience in Flip Flops
Great views - Tuolumne Meadow was more like a lake after the heavy snow year. The campground wasn't open yet and we were the only ones around.

Nice Views
Walked up with my wife, Juan, and Luis, as a warm up to swimming in the Tuolomne River and hiking down to North Dome later that day. A great way to work some soreness out after hiking from Tenaya Lake to the Valley via Clouds Rest and Half Dome a couple of days before.

excellent views of tuoleme medows and lembert dome. my girlfriend was a little nervous of slipping on some of the polished granite but she made it up like a champ
Route Climbed: Southeast Route Date Climbed: July 6, 2005
This was my wifes first Summit. :) With her lack of experience, old tennis shoes and her fear of heights and slipping we opted for the safe southeast route rather than Men at Work.

Route Climbed: Men at Work Date Climbed: October 12, 2003, July 3rd (with mommy!)
September 6, 2010 - TRed the right N Side, descended Men at Work after cleaning the top-ropes.
July 3, 2010 - Took my mom up this route for her first visit to the Sierra, and first experience walking on granite slab.
October 12, 2003 - After warming up for this route by dayhiking Mt Whitney & Mt Muir via the Mountaineers Route, my party and I embarked on this "treacherous" route without much hope for success since we were attempting to free-solo it without a beer. As luck would have it, we summitted and even got some tourists to take photos of us climbing the erratics on the summit!
Thankfully they also had some Fig Newtons to replenish our waning strength for the descent.
Fun as a day-off jaunt or a place to gauge if you really want to climb the bigger domes of the park. Worth the climb at night if you're staying at the meadow's campground to watch the sun set.
Route Climbed: SE face, Men at Work Date Climbed: 6 Oct, 2000; 22 August, 2004
This was my first High (?) Sierra 'peak.' Did it on my way to meet my homeboy Zathan to climb Mt. Whitney in October, 2000. Great introduction to rock climbing in Tuolumne. Took the SE face at the time.
2nd (or maybe 3rd or 4th) time: Having completed (half of, before getting chased off by inclement weather) the Matthes Crest Traverse, & the NW Books of Lembert Dome in the preceding days, Gordon & I were feeling confident, so we grabbed a couple of Keystones & headed for Pothole Dome. We then proceeded to put up (?) Men at Work, a much (or at least slightly) more committing route than the standard one, going up the direct S face. We were feeling strong, so we just 3rd-classed the whole route. Anyway, nice end of a nice Tuolumne climbing weekend (despite the abnormally iffy weather).

Route Climbed: Right-side toprope #1, Men at Work Date Climbed: 26-August-2005I couldn't bear to watch Matthew free-soloing Men at Work - he had my TR biners & slings and the rope, but no beer.
Afterwards, he rapped down and we climbed the 5.8 friction line a couple of times. Then it was my turn to downclimb Men at Work.
Gripped I was. In complete fear. Then I remembered how great the focaccia is at the Tuolumne Meadows Store ...
