Great views from the geographic center of the Klamath Knot!  Sucess!

We hiked in from Youngs Peak TH to Raspberry Lake the day before, camped, went up Preston Peak on the 27th, camped, and then back out the next morning. Perfect weather, not too hot, clear and calm. There is fire damage to ~30% of the forest on the way in, but the majority is intact, and Cracker Meadow was spectacular. The climb up from the lake to the peak is as described, mostly class 2 with a little class 3. Very doable, nothing tricky or exposed. There were still a few patches of snow on the north-facing slopes, nice to grab a handful for water up top. Very worthwhile and incredible 360° views of the entire region! We found out about Preston Peak from reading The Klamath Knot (p5).
