I don't know when exactly you took this pictures but see how much less snow there is now than when I took the same shot on July 2, 2003.
Yes, the last 2 years were more dry in San Juans. The views into Grenadiers are the best.... thanks.
Makes me want to go. .
you should :) one of the nicest areas in Colorado.
Were you on a trail? Or a peak? If either, which ones? We were backpacking in the Weminuche last year and were near Vestal but I never saw anything approaching that view!
I was hiking peaks - several 13ers - just south east of Silverton. I went on an easy ridge of 4 13ers, and the whole time had a views like this....
Whitehead Peak, Mt. Rhoda, and a couple of UN peaks (don't remember numbers).
a fabulous shot Liba. Cheers
thanks, both peaks are lovely climbs...
Simply can't wait to explore the San Juan range, so happy to move here! Beautiful image!!
San Juans are my favorite from all Colorado Mountains. Good luck with your move.
Thanks! I have already moved to Cedaredge, now to find some good people to explore with. :)
Great vantage point! Silverton area is just awesome. Making my 5th trip back to the Grenadiers this summer. Cheers!
Have fun - I love that area. Thanks for checking out the photo.
compares favorably even with what I see in Switzerland these days.
Thank you Vlad... the rock on those peaks is amazing... great multi pitch alpine climbing, a rarity in Colorado (typically a loose stuff), but Grenadiers are made for climbers....
Great shot. Biding my time til I can get there.
Thanks for posting.
I hope you will be able to get here soon...:) but the peaks are not going away. Thanks for your comment.
