The lower portions of the Profile Trail were well graded and made for some easy hiking. Once we got above Shanty Spring at about 2.5 miles into the hike, the trail became much more rugged. What you see in the picture was pretty much the condition of the trail all the way to the junction with the Grandfather Trail - about 0.6 miles worth. It wasn't so much a trail, but more like a path through the rocks and boulders.
