Proghorn poser

Proghorn poser

This guy didn't run when I stopped my truck to take his picture. This was taken just off of the Pony Express road as my wife and I headed for Indian Peaks, one of Utah's 84 prominence peaks. His look was "who you lookin at?" and after he had enough of me, he sauntered off in the direction he had been heading in the first place. For more info on Proghorn's, read this. This one's for you Larry. 4-26-08

What ever happened

to the Pony Express? Seems like
it was an awesome avenue of
communications! There's a lot
of Pronghorns hanging out at
Prescott Valley, AZ. Perhaps
your friend Rick Hartman has
seen them? They always hide
when they see me coming their
way! Just like the Bighorns
did when I was in Nevada.
The only wildlife shot I ever
got was of a skeeter biting
my arm. Nice shot, Dean !!!

Re: What ever happened

Thanks Larry, I was hoping you'd see my little blurb on the caption. Here is another shot of a poser, but of the female persausion. I think it is the better of the two. I have a great story about a proghorn that raced in front of Dennis and I one night as we were coming off a mountain in Oregon. The proghorn antelope is truly one of my favorite animals. I've never had two not run from me. This shot was actually taken on the way out from Indian Peaks on saturday.

Re: What ever happened

Pronghorns have apparently extended
their range to n. Utah. My wife and I
saw one on the east side of Lowe Peak
near Cedar Fort, as we were headed to
Lehi a few years back. Great shot, Dean!
