Speed Ascent Descent  Sucess!

Convinced the crew to the pull over the car and wait for me while I bagged the summit really quick. Unfortunately I only had barefoot style shoes and shorts so the going up got very hot and sharp on the feet and the bushwacking tore my legs up and bloodied me a bit. Round trip took 15 minutes running all the runnable parts and speed climbing the rest. I also got stuck twice on the way down and had to go back up and over to make it down. I imagine I could do round trip in 10 minutes or so with proper shoes, pants, and knowledge of how to get down better. Views on top were very cool and I thought for a second of jumping off (like the legend of Kahekili) before reality set in and I realized it would = death. Fun quick climb!

Nice little break

from a trying drive around West Maui. I've driven past here before but this time the weather was perfect so I took the opportunity to climb. Great photo opps!

Kahakuloa  Sucess!

Have had the idea to climb this for a while now. Finally did it, really quick 10 mins top the top from the road. Be sure to get some shave ice from Loraine afterwards in Kahakuloa village!

Route Climbed: Southeast Face Date Climbed: August 22, 2004  Sucess!

Scrambled / bushwhacked my way to the summit, in the rain, while my kind brother waited in the car. There were three Heiniken beer caps next to the summit pole... no first summit today :)
