This shot was taken from the west edge of the Khumbu moraine, just south of Gorak Shep. The area is desolate, yet amazingly beautiful! The relative height of the brownish Kala Pattar (5643m/18525ft) against Pumo Ri (7161m/23494ft) is shown very realistically here. That's almost 4000ft of sheer mountain looming above the top of the somewhat miniscule looking "Brown Lump". The Gorak Shep valley floor is just over 16950ft altitude. Lingtren (6714m/22027ft) is off to the far right. Everest south base camp and Khumbutse are just off the photo to the right. April 2007 Photo by TorstenW. Taken with a Sony Cybershot 6.0 MP digital camera, for what it's worth.
