Nugent Loop
Bagged in conjunction with tohakum in a loop using the ridges rather than the canyon bottom. Great hike with some scary lightning on the ridge right after we started descending.

Traverse from Tohakum
Easy traverse from Tohakum. The summit view are a little blocked by the vegetation at the top. I found a better viewpoint by walking a bit south on the ridge, about 100-200 ft. Still quite a bit of snow on the north and east faces.

Nugent Canyon Route
Summitted on the way to Tohakum. I didn't find a summit register, but who knows, I may have missed it in all that brush. Great day, nice views and not a soul in sight the whole day. Spotted some mule deer and a couple Golden Eagles on the way up.

Pyramid
Summitted via Tohakum traverse. Summit is extremely brushy, summit register is a small blue jar. Tough climb but good summit views and several wild horses.

Postholing pain
I left Sac at 4:30 am and was at the trailhead by 7:30 am (A lot quicker than anticipated). The day was absoultely great. Temps in the 20's at the start, warming to mid 50's. It's a pretty easy hike to the toe of the east ridge following the cattle trails (watch out for the dung!). The last third of the east ridge is really steep. I got cliffed out just before the steepest section and had to retrace my steps and drop about 100 feet to get around. There was about 2 feet of snow from 7,500' to the summit (8,101'). The postholing was terrible. I was consistently sinking thigh deep. Couldn't find the summit register due to snow. Made it half way on the traverse to Tohakum but ran out of time. The postholing really slowed me, not to mention draining me physically. All in all, a really fun day. I'm definitely heading out to some other Nevada peaks.
Route Climbed: East Ridge (ascent) / North Ridge (descent) Date Climbed: Dec 18, 2004
A fair bit of snow on the summit, and views mostly of the surrounding fog. I encountered a little easy 3rd class on the east ridge, but nothing too good. The traverse to Tohakum was also easy but enjoyable.
Route Climbed: Traverse from Tohakum Peak Date Climbed: March 16, 2003
Finally attempted Tohakum Peak, and while I was up there, it made sense to do the good-looking ridge traverse to Pyramid. Good choice! The route was fun, solid, quality 3rd class. Not too many people come up here...
