Left Boulder around five am and made it to the trailhead just after seven. Crisp cool morning. There was not a cloud in the sky and the views from atop Quandary of the Sawatch and Elk Ranges to the west, the Mosquito Range to the south, the Front Range to the East, and the Tenmile Range to the north were all fantastic. Excited for my next fourteener!

Nice 14er with bonus mountain goats
Started early enough to beat the weather, saw a family of mountain goats near the trail on the way down. Sweet!

Via Cristo Couloir
Started around 5AM. Took 2WD car about half way to the dam. 4WD certainly could have made it almost all the way to the dam. Couloir was kinda dry, but certainly climbable (no skiing for sure). Most of the snow was powder and did not require crampons 90% of the time. Near perfect day otherwise. Descended down east ridge back to car. Traction recommended on ridge. Back at car around 11:30AM.

First Colorado 14er
My final hike during my week in CO, and my first CO 14er. Lots of people, but everyone was friendly. Saw a couple mountain goats and lots of pika. Had nice weather, breezy and cool at the summit. Took just over three hours to summit. Hopefully I can come back to Colorado soon!
Although we were some of the first people on top, the crowds were forming in a major way on our descent. Very crowded and relatively easy 14er. Saw some goats.
Climbed the standard route up the east ridge from Highway 9. There were several mountain goats up there. September is my favorite climbing month in Colorado and Wyoming. Happy Trails.
Started around 8AM. Perfect day. Lots of sun with little wind. Lots of mountain goats to say hi to. Some snow along the route just below the summit. Back at car around 1:30PM.

QuandaryUp the Cristo Couloir and out the East Ridge. Fairly straightforward. Didn’t even really need crampons but they did make it easier.
