A spectacular October day--next to zero snow on the mountain, zero clouds, almost zero wind. Great scenery and a fun hike with my dad to the top of his first fourteener. A lot of fun!
Climb and ski descent of the couloir. Classic ski mountaineering.
First attempted this from class 3 west ridge after summit of Fletcher. storm almost took us out, though. this was my quick and easy return to snag the summit.
please see my trip report
Nice morning hike. Trail in good shape. Dusting of snow above about 13,000 feet.
Great winter climb and a lot of good glissading. VERY cold up top, though....
With Paul Dowdy and Craig Sanford. Almost got zapped by lightning on the summit!
Beautiful August day in Colorado.
My (and my wife's) first 14er. Nice climb, great views.
Hiked with Mike Payne (his 1st 14er).
Also hiked with Michael Preece Feb. 13, 2012, also his first 14er (and in winter to boot!).
Great day, plenty of snow.
Hiked again with Rachel Engel (niece) and Alex Powers July 21, 2016 (their first 14ers too!). Blue bird day. They killed it.
Nice morning jaunt.
This was the first 14er my wife and I climbed. We had a great time and are planning another one for a few weeks from now.
7/9/11- w/james, climbed inwood arete(5.4) on the north face under the constant threat of thunderstorms which never came to fruition. wasn't as hard as i hoped for, yet it was a great day to start off the alpine tech season.
1/27/08- w/jamie, mike, sarah and dominic, very windy day for a winter summit. nice group outing until 13,100' when sarah and i put our heads and finished off the trial out front. wind break on the summit was a well-deserved treat.
10/16/04- hiked w/ Michelle. this was an easy hike, but didn't have snowshoes which ended up being a problem above 12,500 feet. lots of ice and snow.
My first 14er!
Great day out...too close to Breckenridge, where I lived at the time, not to climb.
Climbed with my husband, Ed.
Payback for a failed attempt in May '04. Fun time, 3rd CO 14er.
Started at 10:45 because I figured I could get to the top in 2 hours and not have to worry about weather. Couldn't believe how many people were on this mountain. Total time 3 hours.
The peak was still deep with snow in late spring. snowshoes would have made the going much easier. It was a great hike on one of my favorite mountains.>>Oh to be in Summit County!
