Great 1st 14er experience. Totally got me hooked on climbing these things - and climbing in general. Perfect day - saw lots of cute little Pika's! Would suggest this peak to anyone!

Beautiful, sunny day, if a bit on the hot side. Loved all the deep snow still at the summit. I never cease to be amazed by all the people leaving the parking lot to hit the trail at 2:00 pm, hiking into the thunderheads. Whatever puts the wind in your sails, I guess. Climbing partner: Tom

Fun, But Long...
Climbed from the Hwy 9 trailhead right after the first winter snows. Snow deep in spots. Beautiful... I wish I could stay in that Tenmile range area for a week straight. Just climb from peak to peak, and camp at those gosh darn purdy alpine lakes.

E Ridge
First 14er solo. Skinned most of the way up the east ridge. Left skis just below summit. Winter snowpack so careful ski descent of the ridge was in order. Very windy day.

Cristo Couloir
Climbed the Cristo Couloir and reached summit at 8:30am. Skied from the summit back down the Cristo. Icy up top (cold wind) but corn down low. Skied all the way to the dam.

Great Day, Fast Route
Could not have asked for better snow conditions. Started at the trailhead at 5:30am and climbed the Cristo Coulior. Spent about an hour at the summit alone waiting for the snow to soften, then glissaded almost back to my car.

You couldn't have asked for better conditions. The winds were light. It was clear and sunny with temperatures in the mid 30s. This was my first experience with hiking at altitude (living at sea-level has its disadvantages) and in the snow . The combination of the two made for slower progress than I planned. Deciding to stick to my turnaround time I reached 13,534 before heading back down. Even though I didn't summit, the experience was incredible. I can't wait to come back during the summer and complete Quandary.

Almost made it to the summit, but my wife was getting sick. We'll knock it out this summer.

We started this hike in the dark to beat the crowds. We got to watch the sunrise from up high above the treeline. As soon as the sun came up, we heard numerous pikas and watched them come out of their rock crevices. There was also one pika on the very summit. Observing the pikas made my day. The summit was quite long and large with many windshelters.
