West Ridge route, super fun with decent exposure.
Climbed with my Father. We were knocked to the ground above timberline by a lightning strike. Climbed again in July 1988 to photograph the "Cross of Stone" on Fletcher Mountain.
Just stretching the legs.
Real straightforward hike. Banged this one out in about four hours. Great views!
Camped at the TH and climbed the East Ridge. It was a record snow year in CO and 3-4" of fresh snow fell while we were there. Conditions were good though and we shoed up the whole way. It was a beautiful hike through the woods but unfortuately the visibility was poor on the upper ridge.
We enjoyed an early morning skin in wintry conditions and skied down the east ridge of Quandary. We were hoping to ski the Cristo Couloir but visibility was down to 100 feet by the time we hit the summit.
Great climb to get some exercise. RT in 4 hours in winter conditions.
Beautiful day perfect hike. A large gathering of mountain sheep at 10,000 feet and my camera had a dead battery!
Good boot pack and a well defined route made this climb fun. The wind made it a bit cold (-30 or so wind chill), but overall it was a good day on Quandary.
Pretty clear day with moderate winter temps. Would much rather climb the west ridge, or some of the colior routes on the south face in the future.
Did this one in snowshoes and came down in very deep powder on an off-trail route back to the car -meaning I lost the trail at the bottom. =)
This was a very straightforward winter climb however I began it already feeling a bit flu-ish. By the time I was less than 75 ft from the summit, I was having an extreme stomach flu and fever and needed to flee the mountain quickly. It lasted for days so I didn't have the chance for a quick rematch. I will this February though. :)
Nice day out with the wife. Started in the clouds and cold while later breaking out into sun. Was a little surprised at the steepness on the ridge in places.
Nice way to revisit Quandary after the West Ridge. Lot's of folks out but a great day overall.
this was the first of a whole lot of climbing on this mountain
Easy slopes, nice finish.
A great first summit - quite cold and windy (don't know what I expected in November..), definitely won't be my last...
Went looking for the West Ridge in a blizzard. Got off route and found a few icy gullies that eventually dead ended. Settled for Cristo Couloir. Was a fun day!
A night climb...very easy
Looking back now, I wish I'd have chosen a more exciting 14er to take Leah on for her first one.
Climbed with a bunch of friends. Had a blast.
