Unsuspecting hikers will be in for a surprise if they try to follow just some of the routes on this map. Mind you, not all white areas here are glaciers or even permanent snow, but the route between Maparaju and San Juan, on the right and turning south, requires crampons, and the route between Pucaranra and Chinchey, on the right and turning north, is serious mountaineering! 16 June 2011.
