I think it works here, although I do feel it's a rather clumsy solution. But the beauty of this kind of site is that if screen resolutions do change significantly then the format can be easily changed to accommodate it. I have thought about this a lot and think it's hard to guess what the future holds for screen resolutions, particularly with the growth in the popularity of hand-held devices such as phones and games consoles which in screen terms is a regressive step. I figure that a web page should look good at one resolution but be usable at all others, thus when designing my pages I always opt for a res. of 1024 x 768 because it is common in laptops and the like and so anything larger would require scrolling on very many screens; and in my opinion at least, scrolling is a complete no-no for web pages.
