Mark ?Great photo of Spirit Lake, and you
even captured Mt. Rainier. Scientists
say that Mt. Rainier is "likely" to blow
up within the next 50 years. It's possible
that you will see it happen in your
lifetime, after I have gone up to the
great "volcano" in the sky!

Re: Mark ?Thanks! Would Mt. Rainier really blow that soon? Wouldn't that kill everyone for a HUGE radius, possibly as far as a hundred miles away? The volcanoes around here are so beautiful. It's hard to imagine them as gigantic time bombs.

Re: Mark ?Scientists can only make predictions and
create theories. I know the Cascade volcanos
are very beautiful, but you are right when
you describe them as "time bombs." I have many
relatives living in western Washington. But,
there's always a chance that Mt.Rainier can show
signs of coming awake. We all know what
happened at Mt. St. Helens. And, Mt. Rainier sits on the same "volcanic platform"
as Mt.St. Helens does, called the RING of FIRE.
