Trail from Camp Sacramento  Sucess!

Hiked up with Kane. Beautiful views of Tahoe and Desolation Wilderness. This hike is worth the effort.

quick descent  Sucess!

Climbed it with a couple of co-workers from Sierra-at-Tahoe. Dragged our boards up there, and had a fun descent. Not that hard of a hike and the ride can be pretty fun with a lot of coverage and no avys.

Ralston Peak Trail  Sucess!

Probably my favorite hike in the Tahoe basin. Not much views on the way up since you're in tree line but once you get to the summit the views are simply outstanding. Didn't see many people the day we went on the trail.

From Lake of the Woods  Sucess!

Climbed with Ol' Buddy esq., during a backpacking trip from Echo Lakes to Barker Pass via the Rockbound Valley and the giant sloth of redneck destruction (Rubicon Trail). Pretty cool climb in the Tahoe area.

From Lake of the Woods  Sucess!

Tagged this one during a backpacking trip from Echo Lakes to Barker Pass via the Rockbound Valley. Set up camp at Lake of the Woods and headed up with Ol' Walsher in the late afternoon. We had the place to ourselves. Great views of the prominent Tahoe area peaks and the southern Desolation Wilderness.

Ralston Peak Trail (Camp Sacramento)  Sucess!

Perfect day for it, nice breeze the whole way. Shared the summit with one other couple that came up from Echo Lake. Didn't see anyone else until the way back down. Amazing view from the top of the Desolation area + tahoe.

SW Ridge on a sunny day  Sucess!

First time up Ralston. Picked the one day this week without t-storms in the forecast, and it ended up a perfect day. Trail to summit is snow-free, and it looks like most of Desolation Wilderness is melted out as well. Didn't see a soul the whole way up and down until I got back to the parking lot. What's this about overcrowded wilderness?

Many Times  Sucess!

My grandfather and I used to hike Ralston all the time from our cabin at Echo Lake. East Ridge, North Ridge from Haypress Meadows, up the bowl from Ralston Lake. Great way to grow up!

Had a great time snowshoeing to the top. It was very windy towards the summit though. Nice views of Desolation and Tahoe.

This was a tougher trail than I expected. Great views of Lovers Leap and Pyramid peak along the way. On the summit, an amazing view of Lake Tahoe and Desolation Wilderness. It was definently worth the trip.

Good workout with not too many views for the first half but the end result is well worth it. On a clear day you can see Lake Aloha, Lake Tahoe, Echo Lake (Lower and Upper), and numerous lakes and peaks in the Desolation Wilderness region.

A hot long day, a great hike with great scenery. We exited Camp Sacramento which makes for a great loop hike. Lunch at Lake in Woods with a cool swim was a welcome respite.

Route Climbed: Southwest Ridge Date Climbed: July 2001  Sucess!

Climbed with my wife, Amy, and our dog CJ. Found out Amy was deathly afraid of heights when we topped out on the rocks. Thought I was going to have to carry both of them back to the car. It was very hot that day.

Uncrowded, fine weather, fine view from the summit -- especially to the rugged wilderness to the North.

Use to ascend in winter and summer when I lived in Incline Village. Horsetail Falls is my faviorite part about this whole area.

Mosquitos don't do well at Tahoe elevation, but for like 4 weeks, watch out up at these lakes. We camped along Lake Aloha and got nailed one year. I remember that like it was yesterday. Cheers!

It was a very warm sunny day with no wind at all. The views where really cool because Tahoe was completely covered in fog due to an inversion. The snow coverage was good and I used snow shoes all the way to the top.
