Overview

Rattlesnake Mountain is the prominent mountain on the south side of the Reno/Tahoe International Airport. A great hike for an evening workout. Some people do it a few times up and down to get a workout in. It is only about a mile round trip from the parking area to the summit which has some towers on top.

Great views of Reno and Mount Rose can be enjoyed from the summit. This mountain can be climbed year round.

Getting There

From HWY 395 take the S. McCarran BLVD exit going East. Go about 1.4 miles and turn right onto Alexander Lake Rd. which is one block past the stop light on Langley Ln. Go around the curve to the left and in about a mile or so there will be a parking area on the right at Huffaker Hills. Park here.

Red Tape

None.

The Hike

Walk across the street from the parking lot and start heading up to the ridge. Turn left eventually onto the ridge and follow the trail to the summit. It is only about 0.5 miles to the summit. This is a good conditioning hike, see how fast you can do it!
