South Face Variation  Sucess!

We went up the south face starting across from the Buffalo Bill Dam visitor's center. Lots of 3rd class scrambling and 4th class was possible. 3200 feet in about 1.25 miles.

We descended the ridge and came down a drainage above Hayden Arch Bridge. 14.5 miles total and about 3900 feet total elevation gain (not counting ups and downs). The road up there gains and loses elevation repeatedly so don't expect a nice flat hike to the summit or back.

Close but need a second day

Took SE approach and rounded the mountain till I found the road coming from the north. Next time I will head right for the road and give myself two days. Saw 100's of Pronghorns and deer along the way.

Gotten close twice

I have climbed the south face and SE slopes of this peak to the ridge, but have run out of time to bag the summit both times; third time's the charm...
