I love rattlesnakes

They're one of those iconic American animals, like the wolf and the grizzly and the coyote and the moose...

It's always exciting to see one, as crazy as that might sound. (It's less exciting to HEAR one before you see it, though!)

I was lucky enough on my recent trip to Death Valley to see my first-ever sidewinder. Dumbass that I am, I spent about 15 minutes contriving some wacky way to pick it up and move it far from the road.

It didn't seem to grateful for my help.
